Has anyone else experienced bullying at St. Peter's school? Did the principal help you in any way? It seems that it is happening again this year.

Dear Columbus Man and Facebook Readers,

My name is Violet Dickerson, and I am the school counselor at St. Peter’s Lutheran School. While the issue of bullying and peer aggression is complex and emotional, St. Peter’s has taken a proactive stance in e
ducating staff, parents and students on how to recognize signs of bullying and report this to at least two caring adults. Students are taught to watch out for one another and if need be, to move the target out of a Bullying situation. We have several examples of this happening and are very proud of our students who are truly reflecting the Love of Jesus by helping their peers. Our principal, teachers and myself have worked together to quickly identify bullying, support targets, engage bystanders, and inform parents. Since we live this side of Heaven, students will always be tempted to take their aggression out on others, but it is our goal to address this. I plea to anyone that is experiencing bullying at St. Peters, or for that matter anywhere, to contact me and I will do my best to help you. My email address is: vdickerson@stpeters-columbus.org

While typing this post, there have been some very ugly comments about Mr. Schumacher. I urge you not to negatively post anything else, but to come to me or another person in leadership. It is my job to address these concerns and I assure you that I work hard to help each and every student.

My daughters were not only bullied while at school but also bullied by the teachers and I was bullied by the Pastor during a church service.

I was greatly upset because the kindergarten teacher at the time set my child in front of peanuts and was told to eat. She could not chew hard foods because her teeth were bad and in the process of being repaired. When she refused to eat the peanuts, the teacher made her sit there all day with them in front of her.
The other children went to music, went outdoors to play, etc. My child sat there with the peanuts in front of her. She ended up peeing in her pants.

She had an hour bus ride home.
This is CHILD ABUSE!

I will never stop blaming myself for sending my children to St. Peters. When the pastor came to my church pew during a sermon, stopped and looked into my eyes and said, "The teachers here are not perfect" I felt like standing up and saying "No kidding"

I took my little one to a therapist afterwards, but the anger I feel still looms.

We were a poor family. Those with the money are the ones treated well. We were looked down upon and when one of the pastors came to see my husband in the hospital, he asked for money with my husband very ill in the bed. Come on! This is insanity!

If you think bullying is bad, you should have gone to St Peters school in the 60s and early 70s. You would have seen lots of signs of sex abuse (child molestation).
There was one teacher in particular who molested many boys. His name was Virgil Linkert. He was also the founder and director of Camp Lakeview, a Lutheran camp at Lutheran Lake. He had access to hundreds of young boys there, and I know of at least two of his victims. He quit everything and left town around 1971 when a camp incident came to light and he was confronted by the board (of elders?).

Yes, that’s right…Camp Lakeview was founded by a predatory homosexual pedophile! And yes, I’m sure lots of SP teachers knew about it, and did nothing.

Who knows how many teachers there had similar tendencies? Actually, Lutheran establishments are probably not much different than Catholic ones, in that regard; except that Lutherans are better at keeping it hidden. KEEP KIDS AWAY FROM RELIGIOUS ESTABLISHMENTS!!

So what ("camp incident") happened in 1971 that supposedly caused Virgil Linkert to leave Camp Lakeview?

The incident was that two boys reported Linkert for attacking them. They were camp choreboys and were staying in Linkert’s house at Lutheran Lake overnight during a weekend waiting for the next week of camp to start. The board confronted him (it wasn’t the first time they confronted him about such reports), and he dropped everything and left the state.

I attended St. Peter's from grades 1 to 8. I was bullied there by classmates and teachers alike! at age 57 I still have strong feelings of hate for some of the teachers that worked there. Dan Schroder was my 8th grade teacher he was so verbally and emotionally abusive, I can't begin to describe how many times I thought about suicide because of him. I still hate him still today, I'd piss on his grave! There were others there that enjoyed the physical punishment they handed out back in the day. Many of the teachers even had their favorite paddles that they named, like "Old Smokie"
If you weren't on the basketball team or a brain you were worthless to the teachers there. Of course if you had money it was ok. Poor children aren't welcome at St. Peter's no matter what they say! People wondered why I never went back to church there. I can't stand the thought of going back. I have never been inside the new church and I don't intend to go.
I don't know about allegations of sexual abuse, but there was plenty of emotional mental and physical abuse when I went there.
